A Fun and Engaging Solution Born at the Cloudfest Hackathon
We’re thrilled to introduce WapuuGotchi, a unique WordPress plugin that combines the power of gamification and personalization to revolutionize your WordPress experience. What began as a ‘Schnapsidee’ at the previous Cloudfest Hackathon has now come to life, thanks to a passionate team and the supportive WordPress community. In this blog post, we’ll share the story behind our project and give you a glimpse into our exciting journey so far.
The Birth of an Idea
It all started at the previous Cloudfest Hackathon, held at the Europa Park Hotel Colosseo in 2022. Our project lead, Marko Feldmann, came up with the idea to create a fun, engaging, and interactive assistant for WordPress users, featuring the beloved Wapuu mascot. This initial concept, coined as a ‘Schnapsidee,’ quickly gained traction and eventually led to the project’s submission to this year’s Cloudfest Hackathon.
Assembling the Dream Team
With the project idea accepted, a group of around 12 talented individuals joined forces to bring WapuuGotchi to life. Our diverse team included React JS developers, PHP developers, SysOps, designers, and marketing specialists, all united by a shared passion for the WordPress community and a desire to create something truly innovative.
Day One: Hitting the Ground Running
On the first day of the hackathon, our team dove right into the project, eager to turn the WapuuGotchi idea into reality. We began by brainstorming and discussing the key features, design elements, and technical requirements needed to create a user-friendly, engaging, and enjoyable experience for WordPress users.
Collaboration and Creativity in Action
Throughout the development process, our team worked closely together, leveraging our diverse skill sets and expertise to tackle challenges and refine our vision. From crafting a visually appealing design to creating a seamless integration with WordPress, each team member contributed their unique talents to make WapuuGotchi what it is today.
